Annie van Noortwijk graduated in 2013 from the Utrecht School of the Arts. She is based in Amsterdam and creates most of her work during periods of time abroad, particularly in the United States. After following an exchange period at the Rhode Island School of Design, van Noortwijk revisited the States in 2017. Owing to her youth spent watching American films and television, the US has for her become a place where reality and fiction blend seamlessly. With its deeply capitalist culture, she finds America a fascinating place to explore beauty, identity and the influential role of advertising. At times she likes to approach filmmaking with the eye of an anthropologist or psychologist, equally she enjoys the creative freedom of making her own stories.

Annie has been working on commissioned jobs for clients as Isabel Marant, Nina Ricci, NIKE and Burberry. Her way of seeing things and way of working creates unique concepts, films and images.
